In preparation for the Beachair paintings, I experimented with
color, shapes, marks, lines...

I was attracted to the imagery of beach chairs with their association to the beach and their multi-colored stripes. As much as I wanted to convey the fun, free spirit of the beach, I didn't want to make paintings that were literal or narrative.
