This is a diptych, created with a combination of acrylic and oil paints on shaped canvas, incorporating wood dowels as part of the composition. My shaped painting-sculptures become objects in their own right. They're designed to be displayed mounted directly flat on the wall or floated within a frame. I play up the contradictions of organic volumes with geometric shapes, blurring the line between two and three dimensions. There are no boundaries. The space surrounding the pieces is no less important than the pieces themselves. The artwork seems to float, inviting viewers to engage with it from all angles.
